What should I do (if anything) with my dog that injured my kitten? SERIOUS?
I have an american stafford terrier mix (think… from shelter) he is bout 2 years old and i have had him for 6 months. I also have a black lab dobie/rottie mix who is just a year old. Sweetest things, the amstaff loves to cuddle and give lots of kisses and sorta timid when I adopted him. He is calm and rarely ever gets excited. Bruno is playful So i also have two cats …. which has never been a problem the entire time i have had them they sleep next to each other, they play with the dogs tail etc. i got them at 6 wks and they are bout 6 months. I left today (brutus stays out) just to run across the street to the grocery store. I heard my rottie barking excessively as i came up to the door which is weird i walked in to see my rottie mix circling and barking at the amstaff chewing on one of the cats on the middle of the floor. I ran over to see her back legs down soaking wet from slobber and she wouldnt move. she had defecated on herself, her eyes had some blood on them and she couldnt really use her back legs. she was in obvious shock. the amstaff was the only one who had scratches all over his face and lips. previous days … about 3 or 4 i had seen blood in random places, but checked all animals and saw nothing wrong.
QUESTION is what should i do about my amstaff. This has NEVER been any issue before and he is always gentle and pretty much ignores the cats from the time they have been together for 6 months. I was unaware that the cat was in the living room where i locked him up. Is he a danger for tasting blood or is he unpredictable i need advice on any actions i should take, or just not own cats. I just wont have an aggressive dog although i believe firmly he was playing way too hard but even with him being hurt i see he didnt stop. please help. im between a rock and a hard place.
thank you so much
first of all, i hope your cat has been seen by a vet. blood and an animal defecating on itself are not signs of "rough play" it’s a sign of an attack and a very, very scared and possibly hurt kitten.
no matter what you do, please do not put the dog to sleep. find foster care if you decide to get rid of him. you could also contact an animal behaviorist.
Toni | Feb 07, 2010
If you do plan on keeping the pitbull, he should be in a crate when you leave. You should also supervise him around the cats at all times. In fact, no dogs should ever be left alone with a little kitty. Even if it seems like they get along, bully breeds have a high prey drive and things like this are not uncommon. I hope your little kitty is okay. You need to take the cat to a vet asap if he hasn’t been to one already!!
Marie | Feb 07, 2010
If this keeps happening , find a new home for the dog. Becareful with our cat. Good luck!
elizabeth | Feb 07, 2010
Ouch. This is a hard one. First off, I hope your cat is okay. I would try to keep them separated. If there have been absolutely no other problems in the previous months, it is hard to believe the dogs would have aggression toward the cats. Honestly, I’d go with your instinct. I too believe they were probably playing too hard and it just got out of hand. However, if it happens again, or more than once, I would either keep them separated all the time, or have it so there is no contact between them. (Like, my aunt keeps the cats in the basement which is also a kids playroom and they regularly go down to feed, water, play with, etc. them.) If you think it is a real problem, I do suggest having the poor dog put down. But I would only do that in a very very extreme situation. Hope this helps, and good luck!
acoustic_identity | Feb 07, 2010
That’s a tuff call. It sounds as if her was playing although I would have to agree with you that if he wasn’t aggressive he would have stopped once he was scratched or began to bleed in anyway from the incident.
I don’t think its fair for your cats to live in that type of environment if you chose to keep the puppy. If he is young doing this it may only get worse.
You can try taking him to your local SPCA they will run "test" with other animals and scenarios to determine if he is an aggressive animal. This may allow you the ability of making a more informed decision.
suprwmngnbad | Feb 07, 2010
That is a toughy. You definitely need to keep your staffy away from small animals from now on! I hope your cat is going to be ok. Always supervise him when he’s with other animals, even your other large dog. May I suggest getting a crate for him to go in when your not home. http://dogs.about.com/cs/basictraining/p /crate_training.htm That way you can always supervise his interaction with other animals and should your cats get into his space, you will be there to intervene. Good luck! I hope you don’t have any more trouble with him.
Holly | Feb 07, 2010
Rehome the cats. Keep the dog. The dog did what some dogs do, chase smaller animals & maul & kill them. Terriers have very strong prey drive. You found that out the hard way. He only acted out of instinct, nothing else.
BCDawgMa **Luv My Chynna** | Feb 07, 2010
This is prey drive, predation, not aggression, and not playing. Any cat or small dog could be in danger from this dog. Even with dogs who get along well for years and are buddies, all it takes is an instant, an "oops" that was my Buddy, not a bunny! Some breeds are more in tune with their wilder side than others, AmStaffs are a breed with predation issues, so are Border Collies (my breed).
Your options are to not have cats (or small dogs, or bunnies, etc) or to manage it so that the dog is never left alone with them, and they always have an escape route (and don’t rely on flimsy gates, you need solid ones that the dog can’t simply hop over or knock down.
This doesn’t say to me that the dog is unreliable around people, but I wouldn’t take this dog to the dog park!

How does one get into the animation field?
I want to be able to create my own cartoons eventually. I love the unique worlds such as Cowboy Bebop, or Aeon Flux… and I want to know how to get a job like that.
I graduated from art college several years ago. AAC in the bayarea. If you don’t know anyone who’s in animation field, you can try to present your idea and art work to the teachers in art school. Most of teachers in my school are not professional educator but professional artist. Such as most teachers who is teaching animation may from the big film company. Some of them fly from LA to give us class everyweek.
I thought you may start from their if you go some good stuff. But if you really got some great stuff, be careful with who you deal with. We had sign the contract that all our works belong to school when we were. I have known there some teachers keep student’s idea become their own…

Look into getting enrolled in a graphic arts class in a college or school, and take it from there.

If you have the love and obviously talent you can!
Good animation takes countless time and effort.
Be consistant do not drift in to other things in that area
You can professionalize abything if you just keep on keeping on!
Goodluck, animation is good fun work
bringin life to a character is certainlya great feeling of giving birth.

I have a short survey about movies, seeing as I don't see a lot of interesting questions in this section?
1. What directing style do you like better, a planned out, follow the script style, or a general outline of a movie and having the actors improvise their dialouge style?
2. What is your favorite Morgan Freeman movie, besides Shawshank Redemption?
3. If you could change the ending to any movie, what movie would it be and what would the ending be changed to?
4. What is your favorite movie that was based off of a book?
5. What movie have you watched the most times? How many times?
1 improvise
2 seven
3 100 days with mr. arrogant
4 LOTR
5 Resident evil 3 …about 7
MarkSasuke | Feb 06, 2010
idk
cutie | Feb 06, 2010
1. Planned out
2. Million Dollar Baby, Driving Miss Daisy and The Bucket List. I love Morgan Freeman!
3. Roman Holiday. Princess Ann and Joe would be together.
4. To Kill a Mockingbird, The Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind.
5. The Wizard of Oz. I don’t know how many times but definitely more than any other movie.
hendrix | Feb 06, 2010
1. Results matter. If the actors are great and lead to somewhere interesting, I’m all for improvisation. But if you have a fantastic script and the actors follow it to the letter, I’m all for that too. Like I said, Results Matter.
2. Million Dollar Baby
3. Usually, I prefer uplifting, positive endings. But, the ending to "The Story of Us" with Bruce Willis and Michelle Pfeiffer always felt false to me, particularly in view of the fact that Willis was getting a divorce from Demi Moore at the time. It felt like eventually they would still wind up getting a divorce.
4. Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Ironically, this movie has a very different tone than the short story. The story wasn’t leading to anywhere romantic. Which one you watch has a lot to do with it, and I saw the movie first. The love story is so uplifting that I didn’t want to see it as a human interest story later when I read it.
5. Probably The Godfather. no way to count. 100s. I watched it for the first time when I was 11. Blew my mind, and ensorceled it to the possibilites of movies ever since.
LilyRT | Feb 06, 2010
1. I like the kind of movie with a general framework for dialogue - that is, most of the lines are acted out how they are on the script, but with some improvised touches. I just like the dialogue to seem natural, much unlike that Twilight rubbish. Worst dialogue of all time.
2. Seven, probably.
3. Oh I don’t really know. I’m not a cinema connoisseur (Though I wholeheartedly wish I was) by any means, but I suppose every ending to the Pirates of the Caribbean movies were awful. They were all meant to be tie-ins to the next inevitable sequel. A good movie stands on it’s own without the anticipation of a follow up.
4. This one is tough. If we are speaking in terms of how much I love the adaptation of a book to it’s movie, then I’d definitely say Empire of the Sun. If we are speaking of a movie that is even just loosely based off of a book, then it’d be between the Harry Potter series and Children of Men. Children of Men is so good. Very different from the book, but excellent. Graphic novel wise…V for Vendetta is also very good, with some major discrepancies.
5. I watch certain movies over and over and over. I have the dialogue of many movies mastered to an art. Fiddler on the Roof, The Philadelphia Story, Polar Express, V for Vendetta, Empire of the Sun, almost all of the Lord of the Rings movies, Little Women….
The list goes on and on. I love a great number of movies and have the ability to watch them into exhaustion.
Though, I think the one I have watched the most would be The Polar Express.
Rabbit | Feb 06, 2010
1. Honestly, a little of both. I like for movies to have a planned script, but sometimes improvisations are the funniest/most interesting lines in the movies, to be honest. So, I think the actors should be given a little breathing room, but still stick to the script.
2. Even though he wasn’t a main role in this, it’d have to be Batman Begins. Or The Dark Knight. Take your pick.
3. I would change the ending of Phantom of the Opera. I would make it so that Christine chooses the Phantom, rather than Raoul. =(
4. The Harry Potter films… mainly the first and second films. The Sorcerer’s Stone and The Chamber of Secrets were both very true to their respective books, and the imagery was fantastic. Also, the characters were flawlessly cast.
5. Wow, this is a tough question to answer… Probably The Nightmare Before Christmas. It’s my fave go-to movie when I’m feeling stressed or upset. =)
Ashy Boo | Feb 06, 2010
1-Hard to say both can work well if they are good actors then maybe planned out if they are quirky or comedic style actors then improvised
2-Driving Ms Daisy(Haha) No Kiss the Girls or Million Dollar Baby
3-The Men Who Stare at Goats - It’s kinda stupid.
4-Shawshank is good coz I read that some years before it was a movie but maybe I’m saying that because the book is better same with Interview with the Vampire.
5-There’s a few - Boyz n the Hood, Point Break, The Goonies maybe Carlito’s Way
The first two over 1/2 a dozen times.

IMDB rating: 7.40 Plot: An admired high school hockey player (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) with a bright future foolishly takes a drive in the night with his girl friend and two other friends with his headlights off with devastating results. The former athlete is left with a brain injury that prevents him from remembering many things for extended periods of time. To compensate, he keeps notes in a small notebook to aid him in remembering what he is to do. He also lives with a blind friend (Jeff Daniels) who aids him. Obviously, with the mental incapacitation, he is unable to have meaningful work. Thus he works as a night cleaning man in a bank. It is there he comes under the scrutiny of a gang planning to rob the bank. The leader (Matthew Goode) befriends him and gets him involved with a young woman (Isla Fisher) who further reels him in. After they get close and after reeling him in with his own failures, the bank plan unfolds. Confused but wanting to escape his current existence, he initially goes along with the scheme. After realizing he is being used, he attempts to stop the robbery, which of course immediately goes awry. Bruce McGill and Alberta Watson also co-star as the young man’s parents, who still search for the person that was there before the tragic crash. |

Finding a location in Berlin?
Hi
Is anybody Local to Berlin; or knows Berlin very well? I am travelling there in a few weeks and need to track a location down.
Ive seen the film "The Baader Meinhof Complex" and would like to see Ulrike Mienhof’s gravestone.
Ive been on Google Maps and tracked the location to:
Heilig-Kreuz-Kirchhof, Mariendorf,
Cemetery, which I believe is North of Tegel Airport.
Ive found U-Bhan stations around the area although they look a distance away. Does anybody know if the cemetery is in realistic walking distance; and how long it would take to walk from the nearest U-Bhan Station?
Also is the cemetery large; is her grave easy to locate. Ive tracked down its in "Zone A"? Does anybody know where that is in the cemetery?
Any help would be much appreciated
BT
UK
In reality Ulrike Meinhof is burried in the city of Stuttgart not in Berlin so you won’t find her gravestone there.
The burial was very controvers at the time the major of Stuttgart defended the right of the terrorists to get a burial place and said that with the dead even terrorists aren’t to be considered as public ennemies anymore
